Preconvention CE Workshops
ALL preconvention CE workshop proposals must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. ET, December 8, 2025.
Share your expertise with an engaged audience!
The APA Continuing Education Committee (CEC) and the Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP) invite proposals for sixteen 3-hour, in-person workshops, to be held on
Wednesday, August 5 in Washington, DC.
We invite proposals for interactive workshops on all topics, with an emphasis on workshops that engage participants through diverse learning methods and support the practical application of new knowledge and skills. We especially welcome innovative ideas that address the ongoing learning needs of APA members.
The CEC seeks proposals that:
- are relevant to psychological practice, education, and science;
- enable psychologists to keep pace with emerging issues and technologies; and
- allow psychologists to maintain, develop, and increase competencies to improve services to the public and enhance contributions to the profession.
Continuing education in psychology builds upon a completed doctoral program in psychology. It is not a substitute for the basic academic education and training needed for entry to the field of psychology, nor should it be the primary vehicle for career changes from one APA-recognized specialty area (e.g., clinical, counseling, school psychology) to another.
Proposals must demonstrate that your workshop fits the definition of “CE in Psychology” and meets the Standards and Criteria for Approval of Sponsors of Continuing Education for Psychologists (August 2015).
Why should you apply?
As a presenter, you have the opportunity to:
- join a select group of professionals and share your knowledge with fellow psychologists from around the world;
- enhance your professional presentations skills;
- broaden your professional network;
- attend one complimentary preconvention CE workshop; and
- receive an honorarium of $600. The primary presenter receives the honorarium and distributes payment at their discretion unless other arrangements are made prior to APA 2026.

Proposal Review Process
The Continuing Education Committee selects workshops based on several factors (refer to
CE Committee Rating System) as well as demonstration of adherence to the APA CE Standards. Due to the competitive nature of the proposal process, acceptance is limited to sixteen proposals. Applicants will be notified in mid-March with the Continuing Education Committee’s decision.
Scheduling
Accepted workshop proposals will be held on Wednesday, August 5, one day prior to the official start of APA 2026. Presenters must be registered for APA 2026 and available to present their workshop in-person in Washington, DC on this day.
NOTE: Some APA divisions offer preconvention CE workshops. These divisional workshops are separate from the CE Workshops offered by the CEP Office and the CEC.
IMPORTANT! ALL presenters and program participants—members, nonmembers, and students—are required to register and pay the appropriate registration fees for APA 2026. Registration will open in April. We look forward to seeing you virtually or in Washington, DC!
